NIGHTLASE THERAPY Q & A

What is NightLase therapy?

NightLase therapy is a cutting-edge, patient-friendly laser treatment performed to reduce (and sometimes eliminate) the effects of snoring. The NightLase procedure is performed using Fotona’s FDA-approved Lightwalker laser. The effects of the laser energy is tightening of the loose mucosa tissue located in the posterior region of the mouth (roof and back of the throat).

By tightening the mucosa, there’s less vibration during inhalation and exhalation. Ultimately, NightLase provides a safe, non-invasive means to open the airway, reduce snoring, and improve your sleep.

Am I a candidate for NightLase therapy?

To determine if you’re a good candidate for NightLase therapy, schedule a consultation with Dr. Steven Burman at Snoring and Sleep Apnea Therapy LLC.

Following an oral exam, a review of your medical history, and a discussion of your symptoms, Dr. Burman can develop a treatment plan that aligns with your individual needs.

If Dr. Burman suspects your snoring is a result of sleep apnea, he will refer you to a medical doctor to undergo a sleep study. Once you receive a proper diagnosis, Dr. Burman can move forward with treatment.

What happens during a NightLase therapy appointment?

NightLase therapy involves a series of three-to-four, separate treatment sessions spaced out over the course of two months.

When performed by a trained and qualified professional, like Dr. Burman, NightLase therapy provides results that can last up to a year. If you start snoring again after a period of months, Dr. Burman can repeat the procedure to prolong your results.

Dr. Burman performs NightLase therapy in his comfortable, welcoming office. The NightLase procedure is performed with a high-quality Er:YAG laser that is gentle enough to treat the soft tissue inside your mouth but strong enough to provide long-lasting, clinically proven results.
Dr. Burman uses a series of innovative handpieces to target the tissue at the back of your mouth, which allows for a safe, precisely controlled treatment. The procedure is comfortable and results can sometimes be instant.

Does NightLase therapy present any side effects?

NightLase therapy is safe and well-tolerated. Some patients experience a sore or itchy throat following their first treatment session, but this usually subsides within 24-48 hours.

In addition, there’s no recovery period or downtime. As soon as your appointment is over, you can return to work or other normal activities right away.

Do you think there’s no way to prevent snoring? Think again! To learn more about the benefits of NightLase therapy, schedule your consultation with Dr. Burman at Snoring and Sleep Apnea Therapy LLC by calling the office today.
